This was our
first Vancouver Folk Fest inside the gates (not outside on the beach at Gypsy Camp). We were very well received by kids and adults alike, doing our brand of Vaudevillian Vending. |

Right after
we tore down our bamboo booth, we were en route towards the big Apple for Woodstock '99 Rome, NY, on some Air Forcebase with a whole lot of DarkEdged Metal bands. Miles of plain yellow corporate food vending booths, wafts of rotten food and spilling portopotties and the East Coast underbelly wearing "Show us your titties" shirts. Located on a military base, it was the perfect stage for the desolating riot that developed on the final day. The positive family Woodstock vibration was at stake as tents were torched or looted and statetroopers marched across the airstrip towards a rioting mass of jaded youth, pyromaniacs and organized thieves. WOODSTOCK 1999 Smoothie Mission. For four days, we acted much like a M*A*S*H* unit providing Organic Smoothies to the positivity-deprived masses. What we witnessed will be the subject of a civil war style journal; while smoothie riding, we broke into the theme song for M*A*S*H on kazoo as helicopters flew over the booth. We flew in one blenderbike by air to N.Y. and the other three came by reefer truck from the West Coast. Highlights of the weekend were James Brown, Willie Nelson, P-Funk, Mickey Hart, Wavy Gravy, Fantuzzi, Rainbow Heart, Finbab'sTea,John Entwistle Band, The Common Ground Dinner time acoustic jams, the storm warning and Solar Root Juice. |
